In short
The quickest way is to start from the address: search for the street and house number on a cadastral map, click the building or the land, and read the sheet (foglio) and parcel (particella). If you have a purchase deed, a cadastral record or an IMU property tax notice at home, the two numbers are already written there.
From the address, on the map
- Step 1
Type the street and house number in the search bar.
- Step 2
The map takes you there, with the parcels already drawn.
- Step 3
Click the land or the building: sheet and parcel are in the panel that opens.
The same route in a single box is at Find sheet and parcel from an address: type street, house number and municipality, and the two numbers come out there.
From the documents you already have
Where to look, in order: the purchase deed (in the description of the property), the cadastral record (visura catastale), the IMU property tax notice, the floor plan, the energy performance certificate, a registered rental contract.
From a sheet and parcel you already have
This is the reverse route: you have the numbers and do not know where they are on the ground. It happens often with inheritances and with auction notices. Enter the three values and the map opens on the polygon.
From coordinates or from your position
If you are on site, the phone is enough: the map centres on your position and you can click the parcel under your feet. If you have a pair of coordinates taken from another tool, paste them into the search. For the outline alone there is See the boundaries of a piece of land, which starts from your position with one button.
If you cannot find the house number
Scattered houses in the countryside often have no recognisable house number: start from the municipality, move around the map by eye and find the place from the shape of the land and the roads.
What to do when the numbers do not match
If the number in the deed no longer exists on the map, there has almost always been a subdivision or a merger: the cadastre has assigned new numbers. How this works is explained in the guide What is a cadastral parcel.
Type the address, read the numbers.
